Kuiz Kimia Kebangsaan (K3M) 2026
The Kuiz Kimia Kebangsaan Malaysia (K3M) organised by Institut Kimia Malaysia is the official national selection competition that serves as the primary pathway to the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO). In the 2026 edition organised on 10 September 2026, TAR UMT students achieved the following grades:
Kepujian: Matthew Kung Wei Sheng, Chim Wen Nuo
Merit: Lee Ying En, Sean Pang Zi Feng, Chu Hao Yuan, Wong Wei Sheng, Adelle Yap Xin Yi
International Mathematical Olympiad National Selection Test 1 (IMONST 1)
Malaysia's premier mathematics competition and pathway to the world's most prestigious math competition - the International Mathematical Olympiad.
TAR UMT's Ang Roy obtained the Stellarity Grade (Grade S) in IMONST 1 held in August 2026, qualifying him for IMONST 2 2026 (IMO National Selection Test 2), the next stage of the national selection process for the International Mathematical Olympiad.

The 12th IMU Science Discovery Challenge 2026
One of Malaysia's largest school and pre-university level science competition.
TAR UMT was represented by 8 students in the Pre-University level Top 300 Finalists advancing to the Grand Finale. View the Top 300 finalists HERE
In the Grand Finale, we won:
- 3rd Prize: Soo Kellyann
- Consolation: Chu Hao Yuan, Chim Wen Nuo, & Sean Pang Zi FengOverall, TAR UMT Pre-University emerged as one of the three most represented schools in the Grand Finals winning 4 (out of 32) awards/prizes each.
International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO) 2026
INSO is the premier global competition in nuclear science for high school students, organised under the auspices of the International Atomic Agency (IAEA). At the 2026 edition held in Saudi Arabia from 2 to 9 August, TAR UMT’s Chiu Bee Chien successfully clinched a Bronze medal. Competing against 120 top students from 19 countries, Bee Chien represented Malaysia alongside three fellow national team members from Kolej MARA Seremban, Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar, and SMJK Sam Tet. Overall, team Malaysia bagged 1 silver and 3 bronze medals. Syabas!
Malaysia Nuclear Science Olympiad (MyNSO) 2026
The Malaysia Nuclear Science Olympiad (MyNSO) is the premier national platform to identify top young minds in nuclear science and radiation physics. Winning this prestigious competition gives students the exclusive honour of representing Malaysia at the prestigious International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO).
Chiu Bee Chien successfully progressed through the Curie-1 preliminary screening and advanced to the MyNSO Curie-2 screening, where he attained a Pingat Perak, earning him a spot on the national team representing Malaysia at the International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO) 2026 from 2–9 August 2026 in Saudi Arabia.

Olimpiad Matematik Kebangsaan (OMK) 2026
A prestigious national-level mathematics competition organised by the Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society (PERSAMA) since 1971.
TAR UMT pre-university students put their mathematics skills to the test at the Olimpiad Matematik Kebangsaan (OMK) 2026 on 27 June, competing in the Kategori Sulong (Individual) for Form 5, Form 6, Matriculation, and equivalent levels.
While top honours in this exceptionally tough competition were heavily dominated by Chinese Independent High Schools and matriculation colleges, TAR UMT secured 3 Consolation Prizes (Saguhati)—the highest among non-Chinese Independent High School and non-matriculation pre-university institutions in this category. Taking on this challenge without specialised training right after exams, our students performed admirably and proved to be among the nation's mathematics talents. 👍

Karnival Kimia Malaysia (K2M) 2025 : Malaysia Schools’ Analyst Competition
K2M is an annual flagship event by Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM) and K2M 2025 was supported by Minggu Sains Negara (MSN) under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI). The Malaysia Schools' Analyst Competition is a key feature of K2M 2025 and was held in collaboration with the Royal Society of Chemistry, United Kingdom.
In the Pre-University category, TAR UMT achieved a podium sweep of the Grand Final prizes!

Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) 2025
The Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) is one of the popular international math contests available to primary and secondary school (up to Year 12/ Pre-University) students in Malaysia.
In the Year 12 Senior Division (Pre-University), TAR UMT students won:
- Distinction: Matthew Kung Wei Sheng, Chiu Bee Chien, Chu Hao Yuan
- Credit: Lim Yee Ern, Chean Ming Ze, Emily Toh Hui Ern
